Semiconductor supplier Broadcom today announces their acquisition of IT management software and solutions provider CA Technologies for a price of $18.9 billion in cash.

To witness a semiconductor company acquiring a software company seems like a rather unusual move, although Broadcom's CEO states that this acquisition is in line with their long term objective, which is to leverage the software expertise of CA Technologies in aiming to create one of the world's leading infrastructure tech companies. Possibly the next few quarters could witness the positive synergies of this acquisition?
